This took place at the Mini A-Kon III at the North Branch Library in Denton. I had just finished strutting the runway as Mukuro during the cosplay competition and was posing for the cameras in a way so that maybe my vest didn't look so horrendous (hahaha, riiiight).
I was asked to show off my scar, so my head's tilted back a bit more to display it's grotesque glory. Anddd my eyes are closed because that angle's creepy when they're open, yeah? xD At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I apologize for the quality of the photos; I didn't take them. xD
It was fun, though! The award categories were very creative with no "best in show" title. I won "Best Use of Special Effects" instead of "Best Old-School Anime Cosplay", since that one went to ~WolfyMask for her Youko Kurama cosplay, so that's all right. xD
Edit: Oh yeah. That thing in my hand was my prize. xD It's the "novel" form of Dragon Ball for small children. >_>
The scars are actually very simple! Materials: Kleenex or toilet paper Ben Nye Liquid Latex An applicating brush you won't mind never using again (like a small paintbrush) Brown make up or paint, in varying shades.
I just tore up bits of the Kleenex and rolled them into little worm-looking things. Then I painted a layer of Liquid Latex on my neck (since that's where the scars go), placed down a few of the "worms", and painted over them with another layer of Liquid Latex to seal them.
Repeat the step until you've covered all you would like to cover. You can make several layers or add different things in, but Mukuro's are very basic.
Let dry for a few minutes. ^_^
Once dry, go over the flesh-coloured gross-looking stuff with the brown or whatever-coloured make up or paint that you're using. I just use different shades of brown eye shadow and the brown part of the Ben Nye Starter Set I was given (it's labelled 'shadow' on the back) to add depth.
Cover all of the nude/white patches and voila! Acid scar ready to go!
Getting it off requires a lot of guts if you've got it on your neck. The skin is sensitive there and I always hate removing it, but I've found that warm water and rubbing alcohol does wonders. Don't get it in your hair or on clothes because, well, liquid latex is meant to bind to things and it won't come off without a fight. :3
Wow, awesome! Thanks a lot I'm actually doing a really ghetto cosplay of Mukuro for Character Day tomorrow at school |D but I hope to be doing a better one of her soon, when I actually get better materials and clothes to do so. I decided to cosplay her last minute, honestly xD But yeah, since I hope to cosplay her in the future I'm definitely saving this info! I'm a real newb to the cosplaying world, haha. Your cosplay of her is really amazing though. And dude, finding a pale green headband is NOT easy. I went with a green one from Claire's which is okay if it wasn't SO bright XD
This pic's my favorite <3
